In November 2024 the sailing Committee of Emsworth Sailing Club thought that it would be a good idea to have a weather station at the Emsworth end of Chichester Harbour. Given that localised weather conditions vary throughout the Harbour and from a safety aspect, data from a well positioned site around the Sweare Deep area would be very helpful to all Harbour users at this busy part of the Harbour.

The sailing committee tasked a member to run a feasibility project on the likely equipment required, work out an approximate budget to purchase equipment, choose a suitable site and then work with the Harbour conservancy who install and maintain the other weather stations and SSG (Solent Support Group) the charity that operate the full Solent suite of weather stations including our local sites of CHIMET and CAMBERMET.
